“Home is an illusion we all chase.”
My roommate said this in conversation a few years back, and it has continued to reverberate in my mind over the past few days.
I have no idea which feels more like home, America or here.
But I can tell you what did feel like home:
being received into twenty-five hugs from friends and family at the airport in Little Rock.
being received into twenty-five hugs from the neighborhood children on our dusty little street.
Both were absolutely beautiful.

I’d say our real home is heaven. It’s not an illusion we’re chasing, but a real place where we won’t have to say goodbye. 🙂 But for now, I think Little Rock is a good place to set up our “tent”, a temporary home where we can spend some time together. It was great to have you home…for a while.

Beautiful! So glad you guys had some good family time and you are right – your heart lies with family and with those you serve in Mae Sot and they say home is where your heart is and of course that is with Jesus too and our ultimate home! X
Thanks for the great calendar. Love it and reminds me to pray daily 🙂

So sorry we didn’t get to see you this time, but we keep you in our prayer daily. Your blog is just fascinating for me. I am active in our church’s missions, and right now we are planning a wonderful 8-day Conference, Feb 25 through Mar 4. Retirees can have daily activities with the visiting missionaries, and interact with them each day since we are not working. We have 9 AM coffees and 2 PM coffees two days, and missionaries to speak at each. All this in addition to the regular Sun AM and PM and Wed PM meetings. Of course we attract mostly mission-minded folks, and so many of the people we support are sons, daughters, or grandchildren of our members.
Our conference chairman, Steve Karum and his wife were missionaries in Thailand for more than 30 years with New Tribes. He was very familiar with Mae Sot, having been their many, many times. He now serves in the US as a counselor for NTM people living here. He travels the country. His dad is a member of our church. Did you get my previous note about him?

I think it’s pretty awesome that you are so loved in BOTH places! One of our goals as parents was to raise kids that other people liked, too, since parents always love their own kids. Sounds like it’s been successful!!
